Every time I head out to shoot, the same fear creeps in:
What if I get caught short?
What if I don’t have the right lens, the right filter, the right flash, the right… whatever?
So I pack everything. Every. Single. Time. And guess what? It weighs a tonne. I lug it around like a mobile camera shop with trust issues. And here’s the kicker—I end up using maybe a quarter of what I’m schlepping. The rest just sits there, judging me, reminding me I still haven’t learned the lesson.
This year, I’m trying something different: make it lighter by lifting less.
Not just in my camera bag,in my work, my visuals, my decisions, my life.
Here's a question to start 2026 : What’s Your “Extra Lens”?
Where are you carrying way more than you ever actually use?
What’s the “extra lens” in your business, the thing you drag around out of fear, not necessity? Every January, we start with a massive list of resolutions. A shopping list of self‑improvement that feels more like punishment: eat better, work harder, hustle more.
Not this year. I’ve only got one resolution: make 2026 simpler, lighter, easier.
It’s not about making things harder. It’s about making them lighter. We need less bullshit.
I’m done with the noise of a “10‑step morning routine.”I’m ditching branding that looks like it was designed by a committee of exhausted monkeys.
Over Christmas, I hunted for “the new thing” the magic fix, the nugget of gold that would make everything click. But somewhere between the overthinking and the over‑scrolling, it hit me: I don’t need more. I need less.
Less clutter. Less distraction. Less of the stuff that drains me.
Success Isn’t About Adding More
All those New Year / New Me posts? They make me want to scream. Success doesn’t come from adding more, making things harder. Success comes from removing the stuff that’s pushing down on you.
You don’t have to “look professional” by making things complex. That’s just insecurity.
Stop racing to “keep up.” Start using that energy to stand out.
Leave the trends to someone else.
Simple Isn’t Lazy, It’s Smart
Keeping things simple isn’t being lazy. Far from it.It’s efficient. It’s smart. If you carry the same clutter into 2026, you’ll keep dragging the same overwhelm, the same invisibility, the same creative stuckness.
But when you choose lighter, in your visuals, your decisions, your energy, everything shifts. You move cleaner. You stand out louder. You actually enjoy showing up again.
And honestly… isn’t that the whole point?
What’s one thing you can strip away this year?
What’s your “extra lens”?
Let’s make 2026 simple, stupid.
